Third-party wireless software, such as included with Dell and IBM/Lenovo systems will interfere with this process and are NOT supported, though they may work if they support PEAP(EAP-GTC) and are configured correctly. 2 - Service Pack 1 is recommended for ANU-Secure on Windows Vista. You can download SP1 and other windows updates from the ANU Windows Update server without speed restrictions. See the WSUS page.
Steps
Installing Connecting Guide1 - Download the pre-packaged windows installerThis installer performs several tasks. It installs and configures the SecureW2 supplicant used for authenticating to the wireless network, as well as configuring your ANU-Secure and eduroam wireless connections. Use the link below to download it, and save it somewhere such as your desktop.
2 - Disconnect from all wireless networksThe installer might fail is you are connected to a wireless network during the installation. Check if you are connected to a wireless network by clicking on the network icon in the taskbar. You should see a box with 'Not Connected'. If you are connected to a wireless network, right-click on the network icon in the taskbar, move the mouse to 'Disconnect from', and click on the name of the wireless network shown. In the example below it is ANU-Access: 3 - Run the installerDouble-click the installer to run it. The installer will show a screen similar to below: 4 - Enter your login information for ANU-SecureThe installer prompts your for your login information, first for the ANU-Secure connection. Enter your Uni ID and password. Leavel the suggested value for 'domain'. 5 - Enter your login information for eduroamThis installer also configures you for eduroam. For more information about eduroam see here. If you aren't (yet) an eduroam user it doesn't hurt to have the connection set up. Enter your details as for ANU-Secure: 6 - RebootWindows Vista users who do not have Service Pack 1 installed will be prompted to reboot. Other users can just click finish to complete the installation. 7 - Delete the ANU-Access network profile8 - Right-Click Wireless Network Connection and select View Available Wireless NetworksWe are now ready to connect. Click the network icon on the task bar. You should see 'Wireless networks are available'. Click 'connect to a network'. 9 - Select ANU-Secure and click ConnectIf all goes well you should see the following screen 10 - Verifying Connectivity (optional)Hover your mouse on the network icon in the taskbar tray to see the connections status 11 - Verifying IP Address (Optional)Click your mouse on the network icon in the taskbar tray and then click on ANU-Secure to bring up the Network and Sharing Center Click on View Status to open the Connection Status window Click on Details.. to open the Network Connection Details window IPv4 IP Address is listed. This should start with '130.56' on ANU-Secure. |
